//Nanikai Anniversary//

The day was a rather beautiful one, what with its rich, baby-blue hue and its vibrant sun, a bright yellow that cast long, warm rays over everything that it came into contact with. Amongst the vast stretch of blue that was the sky, fluffy, white clouds drift aimlessly, few and far apart from each other as if to create an almost picturesque scene.

Within her childhood home, Naniko sits upon a stool at the countertop which allowed her a view into the kitchen, where her mother, dressed in an old t-shirt and pajama shorts, was cooking breakfast. Naniko herself, was dressed similarly, though rather than shorts, she wore a pair of pajama pants.

The two women seemed to be quietly conversing with one another, the quiet rather comfortable. As her mother cooks, Naniko folds her hands together quietly, setting them atop the counter, a soft smile gracing her lips as she talks with the older woman before her, about seemingly unimportant things.

After a few moments pass, their conversation falls to silence, the sound of food cooking the only thing to be heard. Naniko waits only a moment before she questions her mother quietly. “Mom…..How do you do it…?”

They say that time can fly in the blink of an eye, and for most people, it often does. For others, however, it moves ever so slowly, much as a snail crawling its way through the world.

For Naniko, time was much like the latter of the options.

After the birth of her child, Seina, and Kurai’s departure from the manor soon afterwards, she had left. Unable to bear with the gaping hole in her heart that only Kurai would be able to fill, she had left. Unable to bear with the endless questions that she knew would one day come from her daughter once she was old enough to ask them and begin wondering who exactly her father was, she had left, leaving nothing more than a note behind in her place.

Of course, as always, though she may have tried to leave them behind and not burden them with her troubles, the residents of the Sakamaki manor had found her and where she had taken residence rather quickly. And of course, they had tried to get her to return, though her answer was always the same each time, until of course one of the resident’s had used his very best methods of persuasion (see: kidnapping) to bring her home. At this time, Seina was around the age of four.

When she had returned back to the place she had grown to call home, she had found out that the male residents of the manor had developed a potion of sorts, with much help from Reiji (as he was quite skilled in the art of creating and developing potions), that would allow for mortals to gain eternal youth and immortality and for a time, she had debated on whether or not to take the concoction in the first place, though with persistent pushing from the female residents, she took it.

From that moment forward, with the help of the other members of the manor, Naniko got herself back into working, as she didn’t wish to be cooped up indoors all the time, and as a result of that, Seina gained a rather large, and odd assortment of aunts and uncles.

Another day had passed for Naniko, and if she were honest, they were beginning to grow easier for her. Her job kept her distracted enough during the day to prevent her mind from wandering onto the topic of his absence, and left her tired enough afterwards, that it left her foggy-minded enough to think of only the most basic of things.

After work on this particular day, and after having avoided a few of her male coworkers who happened to be particularly interested in winning her affections (and had been endlessly persistent with it), she arrives back to the place she called home, the Sakamaki manor.

A small sigh escapes her as she leaves her car, a hand flitting to her chest as she shuts the door with her free hand and heads towards the manor’s front doors. Slowly, though surely, she reaches the doors, pushing them open and looking around. She seemed to be searching for one thing in particular, and after a few moments, she heads to the living room, peeking inside where the sound of the television airing some variation of children’s entertainment was coming from. A smile perks onto Naniko’s lips as her gaze comes to settle onto a small figure napping upon the couch.

Walking over, she sits down beside the figure, resting her hand on top of their head as they sleep. staring at them quietly, she murmurs softly. “Look at you, baby….you’ve gotten so big now….”

The figure rouses from their sleep a little, pushing into Naniko’s touch as they nap. Yawning a little, the figure, a girl of slight build with a darker complexion and long, voluminous, white hair, mumbles softly in her sleep, her voice strangely soft. “Mom…..”

The girl who had spoken, appeared to be about nine years old, though it was a little hard to gauge, as she seemed smaller and more youthful than her age made her appear to be.
